Softball Game Preview: Columbus Sailors vs. Oelwein Huskies

The Columbus Sailors will take on the Oelwein Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Oelwein took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Columbus, who comes in off a win.

Columbus took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Hudson, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Sailors had just enough and edged out the Pirates 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sailors have posted since May 29, 2024.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Oelwein was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wapsie Valley. The loss continues a trend for the Huskies in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost six in a row.

Columbus' win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Oelwein, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
