Basketball Recap: St. Philip Catholic Central Triumphs

St. Philip Catholic Central lost to East Jordan back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The St. Philip Catholic Central Fighting Tigers snuck past the East Jordan Red Devils with a 51-47 victory.

Korbyn Russell and Max Beal certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Russell went 6 for 13 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds, while Beal posted ten points and seven boards. Russell's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellis Malpass, who put up seven points and five rebounds.

St. Philip Catholic Central's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for East Jordan, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Philip Catholic Central will venture away from home to challenge Hillsdale Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillsdale Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something St. Philip Catholic Central surely won't give up without a fight. As for East Jordan, they will head out on the road to square off against Inland Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
