Baseball Game Preview: Port Allen Pelicans vs. Liberty Magnet Patriots

Port Allen is 0-6 against Liberty Magnet since February of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Port Allen Pelicans will host the Liberty Magnet Patriots at 5:00 p.m. Port Allen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Last Wednesday, Port Allen came up short against St. James and fell 8-4.

Port Allen saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Bodin, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another was Branagan Ponthieux, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Liberty Magnet also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to East Iberville by a score of 8-3.

Daniel Sanchez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Port Allen's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Liberty Magnet, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Port Allen has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Liberty Magnet struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
