Softball Recap: Capital Extends Winning Streak to Two

It was a proper cat-fight when Capital took on Taos on Wednesday. The Jaguars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Brooklyn Cardenas was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Padilla, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Capital and bumps their season record up to 11-6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Taos, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Capital will take on La Cueva at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bears will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Taos, they will face off against Los Alamos at 3:00 a.m. on Monday. The Hilltoppers will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
