Basketball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Cumberland

Cumberland had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They walked away with a 71-61 victory over the Northwestern Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Beavers: when they faced off against the Tigers back in January, they had to take a 83-75 loss.

Cumberland pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Northwestern, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.

Cumberland and Northwestern should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. Cumberland (ranked 146th) will meet Hayward (ranked 372nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Northwestern will challenge Ashland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday up 317 places (105 vs. 422).
