Softball Recap: St. Joseph's Catholic Wins Going Away Against Brashier Middle College Charter

St. Joseph's Catholic hadn't done well against Brashier Middle College Charter recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The St. Joseph's Catholic Knights put the hurt on the Brashier Middle College Charter Bengal with a sharp 6-0 victory. Considering the Knights have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Addie Murphy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Murphy was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reese Martin, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

The win made it two in a row for St. Joseph's Catholic and bumps their season record up to 3-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for Brashier Middle College Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, St. Joseph's Catholic is taking a road trip to challenge Thornwell at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph's Catholic's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Thornwell's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Brashier Middle College Charter will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on High Point Academy at 6:00 p.m. on March 27th.
