Baseball Game Preview: Sulphur Bulldogs vs. Whitesboro Bearcats

The Sulphur Bulldogs will challenge the Whitesboro Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Sulphur proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 15) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Callisburg 9-8. The Bulldogs' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

The team relied heavily on Cash Matlack, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Briar Davenport, who scored two runs and stole Two bases.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Whitesboro challenged Ardmore on Thursday. Whitesboro's pitchers stepped up to hand Ardmore a 1-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Bearcats in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Sulphur's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Whitesboro, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.

Sulphur was able to grind out a solid win over Whitesboro in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sulphur since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
