Soccer Recap: Mattoon Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After soaring to six goals the game before, Mattoon was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Effingham Hearts by a score of 2-1. Mattoon were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Effingham earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

Mattoon's defeat ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5-2. As for Effingham, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-1-3 record this season.

Mattoon wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next matchup, a 5-1 victory against Newton on the 3rd. As for Effingham, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-1 win against Hillsboro on the 1st.
