Soccer Recap: Mattoon Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Altamont on Saturday, Mattoon came back down to earth. The Greenwave fell just short of the Effingham Hearts by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked Mattoon's third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Mattoon's defeat ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5-2. As for Effingham, they pushed their record up to 15-1-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Coming up, Mattoon will square off against Newton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mattoon will need to watch out since Newton have now posted at least four goals in their last four matchups. As for Effingham, they will challenge Hillsboro at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
