Volleyball Recap: Altamont Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Lauren Thacker and Chezney Bywater

Altamont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the St. Joseph Jayhawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Longhorns of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Altamont was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-13, 25-22.

Altamont's loss came despite strong showings from Chezney Bywater and Lauren Thacker. Bywater had 12 digs, while Thacker had nine digs and one block.

Sophie Yates went supernova For St. Joseph., getting 15 digs and five aces. That's the most aces Yates has posted over her last seven matchups.

Altamont's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for St. Joseph, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Jayhawks beat Altamont by a score of 3-1 on Thursday.
