Softball Recap: Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers vs. Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils
Hollidaysburg extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-16 in the process. They fell 9-5 to the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils. The Golden Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Devils earlier this season, when they won 12-11.
Hollidaysburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Morris, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
As for Bellwood-Antis, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.
On Bellwood-Antis' side, Palynn Gregg made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hollidaysburg will square off against Altoona at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Tigers are facing the Mountain Lions at the right time seeing as the Mountain Lions are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Bellwood-Antis, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Clearfield at 1:00 p.m.
