Basketball Recap: Chase Takes a Loss

Chase was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 32nd straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 78-26 loss at the hands of the Fairfield Falcons. The Kats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-11.

Chase lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Malik Carson, who posted eight points along with eight boards and four steals. Carson has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Layton Winkelman, who had six points and seven rebounds.

Connor Fowler continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fairfield, going 20 for 30 on his way to 46 points and eight steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Fowler has scored at least a third of Fairfield's points. Chase Combs was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Chase's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Fairfield, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.

Chase has already played their next game, a 66-44 victory against Burrton on the 28th. As for Fairfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-37 loss against Central Christian on the 28th.
