Softball Game Preview: South Fort Myers Wolfpack vs. Babcock Trailblazers

The South Fort Myers Wolfpack will challenge the Babcock Trailblazers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

South Fort Myers made up a huge gap compared to their last game against East Lee County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. South Fort Myers blew past East Lee County 24-9 on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Wolfpack as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

The team relied heavily on Jerzi Nace, who scored four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Krysten Palomino was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Babcock). Everything went their way against Lehigh on Monday as Babcock made off with a 21-4 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Trailblazers with their most commanding win of the season.

Lexi Haley and Brooklyn Mills made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Haley struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off only two hits. Meanwhile, Mills struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, Haley is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. At the plate, Haley scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Mills scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Haley is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

In other batting news, Emmie Barritt was a standout: she scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Macia, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Babcock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

South Fort Myers' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Babcock, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
