Baseball Recap: Rangeview Comes Up Short

Rangeview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 5-1 to the George Washington Patriots.

Emmanuel De La Torre spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Rangeview's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 1-8 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Rangeview saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was William Stevenson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Rangeview's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for George Washington, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-7.

Looking ahead, Rangeview will face off against Denver South at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ravens have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for George Washington, they have already played their next contest, a 22-2 victory against Hinkley on the 15th.
