Softball Recap: Hamburg Has No Trouble Against Sweet Home

Hamburg barely beat Sweet Home the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs blew past the Panthers 10-4 on Wednesday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Claire Sokolowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emma Holst, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most triples she has posted since back in May of 2024. Madison Ferro was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hamburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive contests.

Hamburg's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Sweet Home, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Hamburg is set to square off against their familiar foe Williamsville South at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sweet Home will challenge rival Williamsville East at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
