Baseball Recap: Healdsburg Sets Scoring Season-High Against Santa Rosa

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Healdsburg). They never let the Santa Rosa Panthers get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Friday. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Healdsburg got a great performance from Eric Nielsen as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. Nielsen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hayden Mariani was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nova Perrill, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Healdsburg has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Santa Rosa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Healdsburg will challenge Piner at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Santa Rosa, they will face off against Analy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
