Soccer Game Preview: Pontotoc vs. Houston

After a short break, it's finally time for some more action. The Pontotoc Warriors will challenge the Houston Hilltoppers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Pontotoc is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against New Hope back in December of 2025. The Warriors fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 1-0. Pontotoc have struggled against New Hope recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Houston didn't have quite enough to beat Vardaman two weeks ago and fell 6-5. Even if Houston couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Pontotoc, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Pontotoc got the 'W' when the teams last played back in November of 2025 against Houston by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
