Volleyball Recap: Bishop Guilfoyle Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Greater Latrobe, Bishop Guilfoyle was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Forest Hills Rangers, sneaking past 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Marauders: when they faced off against the Rangers back in March, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (106-102) Bishop Guilfoyle actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 18-25, 25-19, 18-25, 16-14.

Bishop Guilfoyle can attribute much of their success to Jacob Mellott, who had 15 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Mellott has posted since back in March.

Mellott wasn't the only good server: Bishop Guilfoyle was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Bishop Guilfoyle's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Forest Hills, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Bishop Guilfoyle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Derry on the 5th. As for Forest Hills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Central on the 7th.
