Baseball Recap: Aurora Central Trojans vs. Skyview Wolverines

Aurora Central has not done well against Skyview recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Aurora Central Trojans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Skyview Wolverines and snuck past 8-7. Winning may never get old, but Aurora Central sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Toby Sanchez was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Avila, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

On Skyview's side, Joseph Ontiveros was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Ontiveros has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Yaxche Villa, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Even though they lost, Skyview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aurora Central struck out seven times.

Aurora Central has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Skyview, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6.

Aurora Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Skyview, they will play host again on Monday to welcome Rangeview, where first pitch is scheduled at 4:00 p.m. Skyview is facing Rangeview at the right time seeing as Rangeview is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
