Baseball Game Preview: La Jolla Vikings vs. Morse Tigers

For the second straight game, La Jolla will face off against Morse. The Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (La Jolla has four straight wins, Morse has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

La Jolla barely beat Morse the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings blew past the Tigers 10-3 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their two-run performance the game before.

Charlie Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Hank Hansen was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Ryan Kestler was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

La Jolla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morse only posted a batting average of .250.

Morse's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15-1. As for La Jolla, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
