Eastern Montgomery had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 7-12 to make it six. They lost 15-5 to the George Wythe Maroons. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Maroons earlier this season, when they won 22-12.
Logan Owen put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Owen wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Coltin Conner, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Eastern Montgomery is 6-2 when Conner posts two or more runs, but 1-10 otherwise.
As for George Wythe, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-15. That looming 15-5 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.
Like Eastern Montgomery, George Wythe also got a great game from a two-way player: Luke Doyle. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Doyle was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Ethan Bement was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Beach Molinary, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern Montgomery will challenge Bath County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
