Football Recap: Newton's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

With a playoff win on the line, Newton rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed past the Gilbert Tigers to the tune of 42-14. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won seven contests by 25 points or more so far this season.

The victory (which was Newton's ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.9 points over those games. As for Gilbert, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 10-1.
