Softball Recap: Walla Walla Blue Devils vs. Kennewick Lions
Walla Walla had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-16 to make it 12. They came up short against the Kennewick Lions, falling 14-3. If the Blue Devils were looking for revenge after losing 16-13 to the Lions when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Walla Walla saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Mclaughlin ?26, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. Mady Olivares ?26 also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
As for Kennewick, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13. Considering they have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On Kennewick's side, Addie Logan spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. Logan has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kailey Palmer and Addison Fielder did most of the damage at the plate: Palmer went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI, while Fielder went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Fielder has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailie Berry, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.
While Walla Walla had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
