Basketball Game Preview: Caprock Longhorns vs. Lubbock-Cooper Pirates

Caprock and Lubbock-Cooper are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2017, but not for long. The Caprock Longhorns will be playing at home against the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Caprock has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 25.

Caprock is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Amarillo on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Caprock was beaten by Amarillo 70-23. The contest marked the Longhorns' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lubbock-Cooper, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They secured a 61-55 W over Plainview on Tuesday.

Lubbock-Cooper's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Caprock, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Caprock was taken down by Lubbock-Cooper 73-46 in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Can Caprock avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
