Game recap: Mountain Range High School Football Team defeats Fossil Ridge

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Mountain Range (Westminster, Colo.) defeated Fossil Ridge (Fort Collins, Colo.) 42-17 while riding the arm of Andrew Wamsley, who tossed four touchdown passes.

After taking the lead on an Wamsley touchdown pass to Kyle Dunbabin in the first quarter, the Mustangs were up 20-7 at the half.

Mountain Range expanded its lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. MR scored four times in the third, including once on a kick return touchdown by Jacob McCort.

Wamsley and Dunbabin were an excellent passing duo during the game. Dunbabin caught three touchdowns and Wamsley threw four. Dunbabin has now caught three touchdowns this season, while Wamsley has thrown seven.

The Westminster school went into the matchup giving up only 8.0 points per game. The 17 points that the Sabercats ended with were above their average of 13.3 coming into the game.



The Mustangs got revenge for last year's 34-21 loss to Fossil Ridge with the victory.

With the win Mountain Range extended its winning streak to three games.

In a 5A Front Range game next week Fossil Ridge (0-7) takes on Poudre, and Mountain Range (6-1) will go up against Rocky Mountain also in a 5A Front Range game.
