Softball Recap: West Florence Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

West Florence's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Ridge View Blazers get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. Considering the Knights have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jayde Perugini made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charisma Williams, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Zoey Marshall was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1.

West Florence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive games.

West Florence's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ridge View, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Coming up, West Florence will face off against Darlington at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 2.2, the Falcons 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Ridge View will be paying especially close attention to West Florence's matchup: after West Florence faces off against Darlington, they'll take on Ridge View again at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
