Softball Game Preview: Damonte Ranch Mustangs vs. Reno Huskies

The Damonte Ranch Mustangs will challenge the Reno Huskies at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Damonte Ranch is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Spanish Springs on Thursday. They lost 11-1 to the Cougars.

Damonte Ranch saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Mares, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases. Mares is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Reno was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against Reed, falling 11-1.

Reno's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19-1. As for Damonte Ranch, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-10.

Everything went Damonte Ranch's way against Reno in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Damonte Ranch made off with a 16-2 victory. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
