Baseball Recap: West Covina Bulldogs vs. Schurr Spartans
West Covina's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Schurr Spartans with a sharp 10-2 victory. The Bulldogs not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since February 18th.
Marcus Mayweather and Robert Melendez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Mayweather pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Melendez pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. West Covina is undefeated when Mayweather allows one or fewer hits, but 8-9 otherwise. At bat, Mayweather scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-5, while Melendez scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Melendez a new career-high.
