The son of legendary NBA center Shaquille O'Neal will play college basketball in the Pac-12.
Four-star prospect
Shareef O'Neal has made a verbal commitment to Arizona, announcing the decision via Twitter on Wednesday morning.
The 6-foot-10, 220-pound post player is the No. 31 overall prospect in the 2018 class according to
247Sports. He averaged 14.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last season at
Crossroads (Santa Monica, Calif.), which went 20-12 and reached the Division II regional semifinals. O'Neal has also played on the EYBL circuit with California Supreme.
Shareef began his high school career at Windward (Los Angeles) before transferring to Crossroads last summer, where he joined the son of another former NBA player in
Miles Ceballos – son of Cedric Ceballos, best known for his Phoenix Suns days.
Arizona announced earlier this week the hiring of former Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar. The Wildcats also have a 2018 verbal commitment from
Emmanuel Akot of
Wasatch Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Utah), an athletic 6-7 forward from Canada.
