Basketball Recap: Chase Norman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gibbs over Clinton

After flying high against Sweetwater last Thursday, Gibbs came back down to earth. The Gibbs Eagles took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clinton Dragons on Saturday. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Gibbs lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Chase Norman, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lee Wolosik, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Gibbs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Gibbs now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Clinton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Gibbs will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cumberland Gap at 7:30 p.m. Gibbs is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.4 points per game this season. As for Clinton, they will head out to square off against Union County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Union County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
