Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Saint Gertrude walked away with it. They strolled past the Collegiate Cougars with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 60-42. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 65-64 victory last Thursday.

Collegiate's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Celie Shield, who posted ten points along with eight boards and three steals. Mia Shrestha was another key player, putting up seven points.

Saint Gertrude is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points over those games. Collegiate is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13.

Saint Gertrude has already played their next game, a 68-45 loss against St. Anne's-Belfield on the 18th. As for Collegiate, they will face off against Flint Hill at 5:30 p.m. on February 25th. Flint Hill has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
