Football Game Preview: Shikellamy Braves vs. Southern Columbia Area Tigers

Shikellamy has won three straight games at home, while Southern Columbia Area has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Braves will host the Tigers at 7:00 p.m.

On Friday, Shikellamy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 26-21 to Danville. The Braves gained 254 more yards on the day, but it was the Ironmen that made the best use of them.

Brody Rebuck put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 45 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 252 yards and one TD. He is becoming a predictor of Shikellamy's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 4-2 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

Even if they lost, Shikellamy's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Chase Swartz and Avery Karge, who racked up four sacks between them.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southern Columbia Area). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Bloomsburg 61-0. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 20 points or more this season.

Southern Columbia Area's win came from a few key players Shikellamy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brayden Andrews, who rushed for 136 yards and one score on only 11 carries. Those 136 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Williams, who rushed for 72 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Southern Columbia Area's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Shikellamy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
