Basketball Recap: Buena Vista Comes Up Short

Buena Vista lost against Wink back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Buena Vista Longhorns fell 39-29 to the Wink Wildcats. The game marked the Longhorns' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Wink found their leader in sophomore Layne Lusby, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 11 points and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Lusby. Alec Berzoza was another key player, putting up seven points.

Buena Vista now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Wink, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Buena Vista and Fort Stockton will compete for holiday cheer at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fort Stockton will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Buena Vista surely won't give up without a fight. Wink will take on Sands in a holiday battle at at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
