Softball Recap: Wayne Christian Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wayne Christian walked away with it. They never let SouthLake Christian Academy get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Thursday. Wayne Christian might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Riley Sutton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most triples she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Mitchell, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aj Verme, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Wayne Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for SouthLake Christian Academy, they moved to 10-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Wayne Christian nor SouthLake Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
