Baseball Recap: St. Bernard's Victorious

St. Bernard had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Fortuna Huskies on Saturday. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Luke Brunton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Brunton was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Hinrichs, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Fortuna and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coincidentally, St. Bernard's and Fortuna will both be playing Arcata the next time they take the field. Fortuna will host Arcata at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, while St. Bernard's will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
