Softball Recap: Luling Eagles vs. Nixon-Smiley Mustangs
Luling had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Luling got a great performance from Nedeyin Magallanez as she struck out 17 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Magallanez has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hazel Bohac was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Taylor, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Luling now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Nixon-Smiley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-11-1.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Luling is set to challenge their familiar foe Poth at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Nixon-Smiley will take on rival Karnes City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
