The Coffee County Central Red Raiders will head out to square off against the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles on Thursday. Coffee County Central is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

On Friday, Coffee County Central took a blow against Ravenwood, falling 42-7. While losing is never fun, the Red Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Raptors are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, Shelbyville Central hadn't done well against Hendersonville recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Golden Eagles came out on top against the Commandos by a score of 42-31. The Golden Eagles' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Coffee County Central better keep an eye on Torrion Mathis. He was instrumental in Shelbyville Central's win, rushing for 183 yards and three TDs on only nine carries. Those 183 rushing yards gave Mathis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Stephen Bobo, who rushed for 78 yards and one score on only five carries.

Shelbyville Central's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Coffee County Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
