Softball Recap: Eight Straight Road Victories for Ganado

Ganado took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Shiner, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Indians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Comanches on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted against the Comanches since April 1, 2022.

Saylor Bures spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Raelynn Pena and Paisley Hajovsky did most of the damage at the plate: Pena went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Hajovsky scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Laci Holt was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Ganado pushed their record up to 20-5-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Shiner, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 21-4 record.

Looking ahead, Ganado will welcome Flatonia at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Shiner, they are taking a road trip to face off against Columbus at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Comanches surely won't give up without a fight.
