Baseball Recap: Shelby Valley Wildcats vs. Leslie County Eagles
Shelby Valley extended their losing streak to eight on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 4-16 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Leslie County Eagles. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.
As for Leslie County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-18. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.
For Leslie County's part, they got a great performance from Brayden Holland as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. Holland has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Leslie County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendrick Joseph, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Coincidentally, Shelby Valley and Leslie County will both be playing Perry County Central the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Commodores at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
