Baseball Recap: Marina Takes a Loss

Marina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 19-1 to the Watsonville Wildcatz. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcatz this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 last Monday.

Marina saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Douglas Ciolino, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Bryce Laoagan also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Marina's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Watsonville, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Marina will challenge rival Gonzales at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Watsonville is set to face off against their familiar foe Seaside at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Wildcatz's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Spartans have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
