Basketball Recap: Ron Brown Falls Despite Big Games from Hunter Brown and Arrington Smith

Ron Brown won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They came up short against the New Hope Academy Regional Tigers, falling 63-39.

Ron Brown's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Arrington Smith, who went 7 for 15 en route to 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Hunter Brown, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Lenoxx Walker, who posted four points and four steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Hope Academy Regional to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lawson Hopkins, who earned 15 points. Another player making a difference was Kellen Powell, who had 12 points.

Ron Brown's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for New Hope Academy Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.

Ron Brown didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-29 loss against Coolidge on the 17th. New Hope Academy Regional has also already played their next matchup, a 76-46 win against Washington Leadership Academy on the 17th.
