Baseball Recap: Eastern Wins Going Away Against Federal Hocking

Eastern never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Federal Hocking Lancers. Considering the Eagles have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hunter Needs and Mason Shepherd made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Needs pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Shepherd tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Needs scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Shepherd scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Shepherd a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Rohwan Gilmore was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Blaise Gilmore was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Eastern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Eastern pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Federal Hocking, they are on a 26-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
