Basketball Recap: Ada-Borup Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Ada-Borup challenged Cherry on Friday. The Ada-Borup Cougars fell 89-79 to the Cherry Tigers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (76), the Cougars still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Ada-Borup lost, don't look at Austin McCraven. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. The match was McCraven's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Anders Tinjum was another key player, going 8 for 11 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Ada-Borup smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Ada-Borup's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Cherry, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Ada-Borup will head out to challenge Red Lake County Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ada-Borup knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Red Lake County Central likes a good challenge. As for Cherry, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 82-63 victory against Sacred Heart on the 14th.
