Two dominant backs in Kaven Ford and Jackson Shealy are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Northwood Academy Chargers will face off against the Porter-Gaud Cyclones at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Northwood Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Cardinal Newman to the tune of 63-0 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Chargers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Max Pascazio had a dynamite game, rushing for 131 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Kevin Johnson, who threw for 130 yards and a pair of TDs.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Porter-Gaud, as they earned their first away win of the season. They blew past Ben Lippen, posting a 38-0 victory. The Cyclones haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Northwood Academy better keep an eye on Scott Tibbals. He was instrumental in Porter-Gaud's win, rushing for 49 yards and one score, while also throwing for 85 yards and one touchdown while completing 80% of his passes.
Porter-Gaud was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 286 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Porter-Gaud didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Huck Nevin and Cole Thornton. Nevin also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 11. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Northwood Academy's record now sits at 6-1. As for Porter-Gaud, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-4.
Northwood Academy suffered a grim 27-7 defeat to Porter-Gaud in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Chargers, Jammall Fludd (who rushed for 179 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.5 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
