Baseball Recap: Vincent Memorial Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Vincent Memorial dropped their record down to 2-9 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Borrego Springs Rams by a score of 7-5. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 11, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Sebastian Jaime was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

As for Borrego Springs, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They haven't had any issues with Vincent Memorial recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

On Borrego Springs' side, Chris Alcaraz and Joey Rocha made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Alcaraz tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Rocha tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Alcaraz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Alcaraz went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI, while Rocha went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, AB Arambula was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Borrego Springs is undefeated when Arambula posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise.

Vincent Memorial will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Calipatria on May 2. As for Borrego Springs, they will challenge Desert Mirage at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
