Softball Recap: Hackleburg Takes a Loss

If Hackleburg was riding high fresh off their 18-2 takedown of Marion County on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell just short of the Hamilton Aggies by a score of 7-5 on Saturday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Aggies recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Payten Herron made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Browning, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Hackleburg's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Hamilton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-14 record this season.

Coincidentally, Hackleburg and Hamilton will both be playing Winfield the next time they take the field. The Panthers will head out to face the Pirates at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Aggies will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
