Basketball Recap: Clairton Piles Up the Points Against Frazier

Clairton posted their biggest win since January 30th on Friday. They blew past the Frazier Commodores 78-45. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while the Commodores are ranked 565th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Frazier's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kolby Stewart, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Brant Alekson, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Alekson a new career-high in points.

Clairton's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Frazier, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Clairton will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bentworth at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Frazier, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-46 loss against Charleroi on the 26th.
