Basketball Recap: Franklinton's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Franklinton proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 38) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Southern Nash Firebirds, sneaking past 52-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Red Rams have posted against the Firebirds since February 11, 2022.

Franklinton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kirby Ransom, who posted 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. The game was Ransom's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zymir Lipscomb, who scored 15 points and five boards.

When it comes to explaining why Southern Nash lost, don't look at George Richardson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Richardson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Kwamaine Battle was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

The win was the third in a row for Franklinton, bringing their record for this year to 9-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Southern Nash, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Coincidentally, Franklinton and Southern Nash will both be playing Bunn the next time they take the court. Franklinton will head out to face Bunn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Southern Nash will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
