The Tocoi Creek Toros will head out to square off against the Beachside Barracudas at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Tocoi Creek lost 14-4 to Oakleaf on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Toros in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.
Tocoi Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skye Fourman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Beachside had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 15-7 margin over the Yellow Jackets. The result was nothing new for the Barracudas, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Kyleigh Kendall made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Kendall was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Beachside got a massive performance out of Brenna Webb, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance gave Webb a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Jurgens, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Beachside hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Augustine struck out ten times.
Tocoi Creek's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Beachside, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tocoi Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Beachside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Tocoi Creek was able to grind out a solid win over Beachside in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tocoi Creek since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
