Softball Game Preview: Willow Spring Storm vs. Cleveland Rams

The Willow Spring Storm will face off against the Cleveland Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Willow Spring played against South Garner on Tuesday and won via forfeit.

Willow Spring will be up against a hot Cleveland team: the squad just extended their winning streak to 11. The Rams never let Corinth Holders get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Wednesday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by seven runs or more this season.

Karsyn Hudacky was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 3-for-4. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Rylee Meyer was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Gaunt, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Cleveland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .371 or higher in three consecutive games.

Cleveland pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Willow Spring, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-8.
