MaxPreps California Regional Bowl Game Matchups

Central (Fresno) is one of eight new teams in the MaxPreps California Regional Bowl Game matchups, taking over the top spot in the Central Section from Clovis.

The CIF has changed how it will select Central Section teams for the regional bowl games. In the past, divisions 1, 3 and 5 were part of the Northern California regional process while divisions 2, 4 and 6 played in Southern California.

However, travel concerns prompted the CIF to allow for more flexibility in the South. Now, any three section champions from either the Central Section or Southern Section that provide more favorable travel for the regional matchups can be switched from the North to the South and vice versa.

This week, Central, Mendota and Strathmore from the Central Section are included in the North and Bakersfield Christian, Garces Memorial and Selma are included in the South.

MaxPreps determines its regional matchup predictions based on the MaxPreps Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. Care is also taken to avoid regional matchups between teams from the same section when possible. The team's record from this year and its current computer ranking are included in the regional matchups.
